Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, and the New River Valley

Virginia Tech is a large, comprehensive, public land-grant university, committed to teaching, research, and outreach to the Commonwealth of Virginia, the nation, and the world. In Fall 2020, the university enrolled over 37,000 students, including over 6,800 graduate students. Our award-winning InclusiveVT program leads efforts to enhance community, diversity, and excellence, in the spirit of the university's motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).

Our main campus is in Blacksburg, VA, in a region consistently ranked among the country's best places to live (see some recent regional recognitions: 2021, 2022). Blacksburg is in Montgomery County, which is part of the New River Valley and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains.
