Congratulations if you are approaching graduation! Here is a ready-reference checklist to help make sure that you don't miss anything. Ensure that all the answers to the questions for your degree are "Yes" if you plan to graduate in a given semester.

Masters Thesis

  1. Do you have an M.S. plan of study (POS) on file?
  2. Does your POS accurately reflect the courses you will have completed by the end of your last semester, and does it correctly list your advisory committee members?
  3. Are you registered in the semester in which you plan to get your degree?
  4. Did you submit the "Application for Degree" form?
  5. Did you schedule your final exam with the Graduate School, and give a copy of your thesis to your committee, each at least two weeks before the defense date?
  6. Did you pass your final defense?
  7. Did you submit your ETD and get it approved?

Masters Coursework

  1. Do you have an M.S. plan of study (POS) on file?
  2. Does your POS accurately reflect the courses you will have completed by the end of your last semester, and does it correctly list your advisory committee members?
  3. Are you registered in the semester in which you plan to get your degree?
  4. Have you completed an independent study course and forwarded the final report to the AGS? Or, have you attempted a Ph.D. qualifying exam and passed it at the Masters level?
  5. Did you submit the "Application for Degree" form?
  6. Did you schedule a "final exam" with the Graduate School?

Ph.D.

  1. Do you have a Ph.D. plan of study (POS) on file?
  2. Does your POS accurately reflect the courses you will have completed by the end of your last semester, and does it correctly list your advisory committee members?
  3. Have you completed the Ph.D. qualification process, the Ph.D. preliminary exam, and the Ph.D. research defense?
  4. Are you registered in the semester in which you plan to get your degree?
  5. Did you submit the "Application for Degree" form?
  6. Did you schedule your final exam with the Graduate School, and give a copy of your dissertation to your committee, each at least two weeks before the defense date?
  7. Did you pass your final defense?
  8. Did you submit your ETD and get it approved?
